Parenting is complex, especially when it comes to stepchildren. There’s no handbook that details the ins and outs of how to deal with someone else’s kids. But if this father can’t manage his own child’s behavior, it isn’t fair for him to expect his girlfriend to do so, nor should she have to beg him to. When more than one person is sharing a space, it’s important that everyone feels comfortable and has the resources they need to fulfill their responsibilities, even if those resources are simply peace and quiet.
